About the Company
Bill Markt began his company in 1977 under the name Markt & Myers. In 1980, Rick Myers left to work in the weather-stripping business, and Bill’s company became known as Markt & Company Construction. Markt & Company has always been run as a family business, with Bill’s son Jonathan involved in the company throughout his childhood and after graduating college. In 2008, Jonathan and his wife Wendy joined the company as partners. Projects range from small projects and repairs to large additions and custom remodels. We do little advertising; the projects have always come through repeat customers and referrals.
Jonathan started working at Markt & Company as a part-time employee while completing his schooling at the University of Oregon. After working as a carpenter in Montana, he returned to us as a full-time employee in 2003 and became an owner in 2007. He has a wide range of carpentry skills, as well as experience in customer service and project management. In 2012, Jonathan qualified as a Certified Remodeler through the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
Wendy joined our team in December 2007 as co-owner. She previously was a financial advisor and manager with Ameriprise Financial, working with clients on saving towards their retirement and other goals. Her customer service, administrative experience, and attention to detail have been indispensable in her role as office manager, bookkeeper and marketing manager for Markt & Company.
Doug joined our team in 2016. He previously worked in construction product sales and service. His work ethic and dedication to customer service make him an asset to our team. Doug is trustworthy and learns quickly. We are glad to have him working with us.

Our Mission Statement:
“Our mission is to create a culture in which we use the skills and knowledge of Markt & Company Construction in a creative manner to enable the full realization of our clients’ dreams and our employees’ full potential.”
“The ability you displayed to read and understand your client’s needs and desires, along with the meshing of all the personalities was directly reflected in the end result that you provided. A marvelous, well made, working, beautiful kitchen!”
-Grace and Sean
“Whenever something out of the ordinary occurred, you kept us well informed. There were no surprises to us. When the wrong roof tiles were delivered, you made sure to get this corrected as soon as possible. We weren’t asked to deal with the supplier on our own.”
“Your estimates are clear and concise.”
– Kirstin (Designer)
“Your workers showed up on time, did great quality work, and cleaned up the work area before leaving.”
“I feel like an equal team player and appreciate the respect I’m shown as part of the remodeling process.”
– Kristen (Designer)
“The professionalism by the staff while on site, the cleanliness of the job site, the prompt response to issues that arose, backing up work done, and, most importantly, the adherence to time and budget are why we recommend Markt to this day, and plan to use you on any future projects.”
“You have the ‘tri-fecta’ of great customer service skills, business skills, and technical skills. In my experience, that has been the hardest combination to find in contractors.”
“This is our second big project with Markt & Company as the contractor. This first project was so successful we knew they would be our only contractor in the future and we were not disappointed when we used them for this remodel of the main bathroom… With their guidance and the excellent help of their designer Ellie Wellstead, they turned this into a very functional and glamorous space…I love it!”
“Your consistent positive communication really made this such a pleasant experience. Remodeling a kitchen was not something we looked forward to. But because it stayed on schedule and every one that worked on it was happy to be there, it seemed to pass by quickly.”
-Grace and Sean
“Markt is very upfront when quoting a project and carried out every phase in a professional and friendly manner, their subcontractors are trustworthy and great to work with. We have more projects in mind and they will be our choice in the future.”
“Jonathan Markt was great to work with; he is dedicated to his trade, listens intently, and delivers promptly with quality work. He was diligent about staying in touch and any questions we had were answered immediately. Most of all he is a contractor with integrity and I would recommend him without reservation as someone you can trust.”
“With our total re-design and remodel everything fell into place and on time as promised.”
-Grace and Sean
“All of your staff were consistently friendly, professional, on time and always cared for our property like it was their own.”
